How to Build a Sales Funnel

Last reviewed: September 2026

Build a sales funnel by defining one conversion goal, mapping the minimum steps required, creating the pages, connecting follow-up, and testing the complete journey.

1. Define the conversion

Choose the single meaningful action the funnel should produce: a lead, booked call, purchase, application, registration, or another clearly measurable outcome.

2. Map the minimum steps

Avoid adding pages because templates include them. Use only the steps needed to move the visitor from context to action.

3. Connect follow-up

If the funnel captures a lead, decide what happens immediately and what sequence follows. Email automation is often the bridge between the first opt-in and the later conversion.

4. Test end to end

Submit forms, check emails, test mobile layouts, validate checkout behavior, and make sure fulfillment or handoff works before sending meaningful traffic.

Editorial note: Software features, limits, and pricing can change. For purchase decisions, verify current details on the provider's official site.
